As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen cooperation between Libya and South Africa, South Africa’s Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, held an extensive meeting with Libya’s Minister of Housing and Construction, Essam Al-Tamouni, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting focused on exploring prospects for cooperation in the fields of housing and urban development.

Minister Simelane presented a comprehensive overview of the structure and departmental functions of South Africa’s Ministry of Human Settlements, aimed at providing a clear perspective on the country's experience in this sector.

In turn, the Libyan Minister of Housing and Construction outlined the strategic mandates of his ministry, as well as plans to develop the country's utilities sector.

The meeting also involved directors from relevant departments on both sides, who delivered detailed technical presentations on their respective departments' functions, thereby facilitating an exchange of insights regarding best practices in both nations.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance communication channels between Libya’s Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Research and Studies Department of South Africa’s Ministry of Human Settlements. This collaboration will serve as a key link for exchanging expertise and establishing practical frameworks to ensure sustainable cooperation and the achievement of shared future goals.
