Sirte Gulf International Airport reported yesterday that it has obtained official approval to commence operations after fulfilling all approved requirements.
It said the move represents a successful trial run following legal proceedings in national courts and reinforces the role of the airport in supporting national air traffic, and after visits from civil aviation authorities and public technical bodies, and an assessment of the airport’s readiness and the professional expertise of its staff.
The operation will start in its first phase with the operation of domestic flights, and the operation of international flights will be started later.
The airport said the step embodies a clear vision towards supporting air transport and enhancing the position of the city of Sirte as a strategic axis that keeps pace with the comprehensive development paths.
