Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office last Tuesday (28 October) to follow up on the work of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, especially regarding the commodity budget and the mechanisms for implementing documentary credits.
During the meeting, the procedures followed in the implementation of the commodity budget and the organization of supply operations through documentary credits, in addition to evaluating the progress of work in the relevant authorities, were reviewed.
Ensuring market balance and price stability
The Prime Minister stressed the need for the Ministry of Economy to prepare an indicative budget that determines the prices and quantities required of goods, in coordination with the Central Bank of Libya, to ensure market balance and price stability.
Regularity of flow of goods and their provision to citizens at reasonable prices
He also stressed the importance of tightening control by the Customs Authority on supply operations, and ensuring the flow of goods and goods through land and seaports in accordance with the approved controls, in a way that contributes to the regularity of the flow of goods and their provision to citizens at reasonable prices.
The meeting was attended by the Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Suhail Boushiha, the Head of the Customs Authority, the President of the Misrata Free Zone, the Director of the Foreign Trade Department at the Ministry, and the Director General of the Trade Network.
