Brought into focus by last week’s fuel shortage crisis in Western Libya, the Attorney General reported yesterday that 86,000 litres of petrol and diesel were seized.
The quantities were seized following raids on two locations in the Sidra and Jadida areas of the northwestern municipality of Ajilat used to trade in fuel for purposes other than those intended for it.
The Public Prosecution ordered the seizure of the fuel, the closure of the two sites, and the prosecution of those involved in the illegal activity.
The action by the Attorney General’s Public Prosecution comes as part of the continuation of its wider anti-fuel smuggling campaign manifested in a series of raids, arrests and seizures.
