The Tripoli based Libyan government announced last Friday (14 March) that concrete foundation works for the first phase of the 28-storey Conference Palace Tower project’s Southern Tower in Tripoli have begun.
The government said the project, implemented by the state agency PPP, aims to strengthen Tripoli’s position as a major destination for international events, create new jobs and support the national economy.
Implementors PPP said the pouring of concrete for the first phase, which will last for 48 continuous hours, is one of the most important construction phases of the project, as the amount of concrete used is estimated at about 8,000 cubic meters, making it one of the largest quantities at the local level.
It added that the project is considered a qualitative leap in the field of infrastructure and public facilities, as the Conference Palace will have a modern design and multiple functions that meet the needs of major events and conferences.
