Libya’s Food and Drugs Control Centre (FDCC) announced Saturday that it has rejection of shipment of expectorant cough syrup arriving at Mitiga Airport.

The Benylin branded product is manufactured by McNeil in the UK.

The FDCC said the reason for rejecting the shipment was that ‘‘the manufacturer is not registered with the Libyan state and is not among the companies targeted for contracting’’.

The incident is a reminder that foreign manufacturers / exporters must have their products for certain categories of goods registered with the competent authorities to pass through customs procedures.
