Signing of an agreement between the Misrata Free Zone and the Belgian port of Antwerp.
The Director of the Media Office of Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), Alaa El-Din Baba, confirmed in an exclusive interview with Libya Herald, that a memorandum of understanding was signed between MFZ and the Belgian Port of Antwerp.
Antwerp Port is the second largest port in Europe and one of the most important ports that operate with environmentally friendly methods and mechanisms, Baba added.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the International Conference on Ports and Free Zones (ICPFZ) held in Misrata from 18-20 November.
Baba said that the agreement aims to lead to cooperation and integration between the two ports to facilitate trade and exchange of goods and services, training and transfer of experience and knowledge, in addition to providing studies and consultations for the benefit of MFZ by the APEC Development and Training Centre affiliated with the Antwerp Port Authority.
The agreement, Baba added, is considered an important step towards strengthening economic cooperation between Libya and Belgium in particular and Europe in general, and reflects the common desire to develop economic relations between the two institutions.
