Libya and Tunisia signed the sixth edition of the agreement on mutual recognition of conformity certificates and quality marks Wednesday.
The agreement was signed by the Director General of the National Centre for Standardization and Standardization on the Libyan side, and the Director General of the National Institute for Specifications and Industrial Property of Tunisia.
The signing and approval ceremony was also attended by the President of the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mohamed Al-Raied, the Tunisian Ambassador to Libya, Asaad Al-Ajili, the Libyan Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, and the Director of the Joint Libyan-Tunisian Chamber.
An important step for increased bilateral trade
The step, the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture said, is important for developing trade exchange between the two countries and stimulating competition between manufacturers and merchants. This will reflect positively, it added, on the national economy of the two brotherly countries, each of which represents an important economic and strategic extension and depth to the other.
The Union of Chambers noted that this agreement, signed since 2005, is considered the only agreement between Arab countries and has contributed greatly to saving time, reducing expenses, and facilitating the movement of goods between the two countries.
