The Al-Hadaba Al-Khadra General Hospital reported yesterday that it had performed the hospital’s first ever open-heart surgery.
It reported that Dr. Ibrahim Zubaida, a consultant cardiovascular surgeon and his accompanying medical team, performed an operation on a 16-year-old patient suffering from MS and severe stenosis of the mitral valve. The valve was replaced with an artificial valve.
The hospital said this comes within the administration’s endeavour to provide all services and needs to improve the medical work in the hospital.
On a broader level, the operation comes as part of the Tripoli government’s efforts to localise healthcare rather than paying more to have it done abroad.
