UNDP Libya organises workshop for media officers from 17 municipalities in the East, South and West of Libya

The UNDP Libya, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, held a two-day Communications and Media Workshop in Tripoli last Thursday. The workshop is part of its Local Peacebuilding and Resilience efforts through the EU-funded Baladiyati project.

Through practical training and discussions, the workshop equipped media officers from 17 municipalities with skills to enhance their communication with citizens, spread peace messages, and tackle hate speech.

The workshop also included representatives from the Ministry’s Women Empowerment unit to enhance the role of women at the municipality level in the area of media and communications.

The media officers agreed on a roadmap to develop communication guidelines and improve visual identity in line with the national guidelines set by the Ministry of Local Government.

“The workshop provided participants with a unique opportunity to connect and inspire each other. This is key to strengthen their coordination with the Ministry of Local Government, in line with the strategy of the Ministry’s Media Office”, Warda Alabyad, Head of the Ministry of Local Government’s Media Office said.
