Last Sunday, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Eni North Africa handed over the sewage treatment plant at Nalut General Hospital to the hospital’s administration, after its maintenance and development.

In an exclusive interview with Libya Herald, the NOC Media Office confirmed that the aim of the project is to treat the wastewater of Nalut Hospital and to preserve the surrounding environment. This was done through the maintenance of the old wastewater treatment plant and the installation of a new station with a capacity of 250 cubic meters per day. There is also the possibility of using the treated water to irrigate the green areas and the trees.

Several CSR projects conducted with foreign partners
The Media Office pointed out that the NOC has carried out several other projects for several vital health, educational and service facilities that provide services to citizens in several Libyan cities. These had been conducted through cooperation with foreign partner companies in the oil sector within the (corporate) social responsibility programme (CSR) that all oil companies operating in Libya, including Eni North Africa, are committed to.

Sustainable development and linkage with oil fields
The Media Office emphasised that working within the social responsibility programme contributes to sustainable development in cities and areas close to oil fields and sites, which contributes to the link between the Libyan citizen and these facilities on which the Libyan economy depends almost entirely, given that oil is the main source of income in Libya,

Libya calls on ENI to invest more in CSR
It will be recalled that during his meeting with ENI’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, in 2021, Libya’s Tripoli-based Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, called on the Italian energy giant to invest and strengthen its social responsibility in the areas of health, education, vocational training, and electricity.
