The Tripoli based Libyan Health Ministry reported yesterday that Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, met with the President of the U.S.-Africa Business Centre at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Scott Eisner, and several representatives of major pharmaceutical and medical supplies manufacturers, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Libya and the Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland. The meeting was organised by AmCham Libya.
During the meeting in Washington DC, they discussed strengthening cooperation between the Libyan Ministry of Health and American companies specialized in manufacturing medical supplies.
In turn, the Minister of Health expressed the importance of the return of American health companies to work in Libya. This, he explained, is part of the government’s plans in this sector regarding the importance of establishing development partnerships within the Restoring Life plan announced by Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba.
Commenting exclusively to Libya Herald on the event, AmCham Libya President, Debbie Hirst said ‘‘Libya is in the process of reconnecting with the world, and we want Libya to connect with the US. Minister Abu Janah has expressed his desire for Libyans to receive the best the world has to offer in healthcare. Libya has the financial means to achieve this. Libya has huge needs and U.S. goods and services are perceived very positively in Libya.’’
