The German aid implementation agency, GIZ, delivered the first batch of solid waste management equipment to 17 Libyan municipalities on Sunday.
This comes within the framework of the efforts by European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Government, to provide support in the field of waste management.
GIZ also delivered the first part of training on solid waste management within the municipal support plan and contributing to facilitating the process of safe removal and disposal of waste.
This cooperation, Libya’s Local Government Ministry stated, comes with the aim of organizing, following up and monitoring all waste management processes at the central and local level. This is to improve the service of environmentally safe waste management of all kinds, attracting and encouraging investments in waste collection, transportation, treatment and safe disposal activities.
