The head of the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Mohamed Raied, received Sunday the Tunisian ambassador, Al-Asaad Al-Ajili, accompanied by members of the embassy, at the Union’s Tripoli headquarters in preparation for the visit of a Tunisian economic delegation to Libya on 24 December.

During the meeting the Union reported, preparations and the necessary arrangements were discussed to activate what was agreed upon during the visit of Libya’s Tripoli-based Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, last week.

Preparations will be made to receive a delegation of Tunisian business leaders through the Tunisian Federation of Trade and Industry. A series of meetings will be held with their Libyan counterparts in the private sector and with the competent authorities to start the actual Libyan-Tunisian work in many areas, the Union added.

Raied stressed the importance of Libyan-Tunisian relations and expressed his keenness to follow up the economic files between the two countries, calling for the necessity of setting an agenda and a plan to achieve and succeed the integration and partnership between the two countries, and also stressed the Union’s full readiness to facilitate all procedures and arrangements necessary to receive this delegation.

For his part, Tunisian Ambassador, Al-Ajili, said that this meeting is a first step for the cooperation of Libyan and Tunisian companies in various fields, including the contracting sector, public services and health, stressing that the Tunisian embassy is fully prepared to support cooperation and integration between economic actors in all fields.
