Libya’s Supreme Judicial Council’s Foreign Cases Department reported yesterday that it was able to obtain a ruling from the Paris Court of Appeal to overturn the ruling of the Paris Court of First Instance issued on 17 June 2020 against Serbia’s East Iron Zemun Company.
The Foreign Cases Department explained that the Paris Court of Appeal recognized the ruling issued by the Serbian judiciary in the lawsuit filed by East Iron Zemun Company to oblige the Libyan state (The Ministry of Defence) to pay East Iron ten million euros, because the procedures on which these provisions were based were invalid.
East Iron was also obliged to pay the legal fees of 20 thousand euros, and the ruling became final because it was not appealed within the prescribed time.
