Participating at this week’s Libya Renewable Energy Expo at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds (6 to 8 March), exhibitor Infinity Libya says it seeks to convert Libya’s renewable potential into concrete projects.

The Libya Renewable Energy Expo is organised by the Libya Council for Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy (LCOGRE). The LCOGRE represents the private sector in the industry

Infinity Libya says that it has developed over 180 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Egypt alone and has presence within Africa and the levant with projects ranging from solar PV, wind, and waste to energy.

Speaking at the expo, Managing Director of Infinity Libya, Fahd Abdel Hamid Ben Halim, told Libya Herald his company’s aim in Libya is to extend the renewable energy sector and its presence on the ground and focus on providing full-fledged solutions which are both reliable and robust. These he hoped would give Infinity the edge in the market.

He said Infinity will focus on the private sector and the need to address Libya’s current energy deficit and providing solutions for it. He sees the solution of this problem as the catalyst to move the country forward.

Ben Halim explained that Mobile containerized solar PV systems can be readily deployed to Libya’s remote areas, providing energy to areas which are deprived or in need reducing the current reliance on diesel generators and the diesel shortages.

The Infinity Managing Director said the potential for solar energy has been discussed extensively by the Libyan government and felt it is high time that a real initiative is taken to support renewable energy companies in materializing such potential into concrete projects.
