Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday the departure of the first batch of stranded Libyans residing in Ukraine to Slovakia. The Ministry said the first batch includes 200 people, with the rest of the community scheduled to be evacuated in successive stages.
This comes after Caretaker Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba had issued instructions to secure the return of the Libyan community in Ukraine, and the formation of a committee to coordinate the process.
The evacuation follows on from the attack and invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
