London, 10 February 2021:

The much talked about first Libyan Airlines flight from Tripoli’s Mitiga airport landed at Benghazi’s Benina airport this morning.

This flight carried a delegation of company directors and civil aviation officials, in order to re-establish the air bridge between Libya’s western and eastern regions.

The symbolic flight completes the procedures for unifying the airliner at the administrative and financial level. Libyan Airlines is expected to start its domestic and foreign trips next week.

The symbolic flight is also part of the wider political healing and reunification of the country set in motion by the 23 October ceasefire and continued last Friday through the Geneva LPDF’s selection of a new unified Libyan government.
