The U.S Embassy has called on Libya’s newly selected leaders to come together in favour of a stable, unified Libya.
In a statement issued yesterday, the embassy said, ‘‘In a series of calls this week, Ambassador Norland congratulated the designated Presidential Council members of the new interim executive: President-designate Mohammad Younes Menfi and members-designate Abdallah Al-Lafi and Mossa Al-Koni.
These conversations addressed the importance of early formation of an effective Cabinet of Ministers and confirmation of the Government by the House of Representatives or the LPDF, and timely national elections on December 24.
Ambassador Norland noted that the new unified interim executive has signalled important steps towards reconciliation – now is an opportunity for all of Libya’s leaders to come together in favour of a stable, unified Libya’’.
