London, 11 September 2020:

The U.S. Embassy yesterday congratulated the Libyan parties on the constructive September 7-9 consultations that were held in Montreux, Switzerland under the auspices of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue and in the presence of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The Embassy said that it was ‘‘confident that a brighter future is possible as responsible Libyan parties come together in peaceful dialogue and with full respect for Libya’s sovereignty in order to achieve a lasting ceasefire, withdrawal of foreign military forces and mercenaries, and reopening of Libya’s energy sector with full transparency in the management of oil and gas revenues.
