Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC) announced Wednesday (1 June) that the UN had extended its support to it until December 2021.
HNEC welcomed the extension and said that the UN Electoral Assistance Project (UN’s “Strengthening Elections for the Libyan People”) would help prepare it for any upcoming elections.
The extension was made at a 30 June video meeting between HNEC, UNDP, UNHCR and a number of representatives of donor countries such as the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
