A Wirshefana man has been arrested, accused of kidnapping and murdering his 11-year-old cousin after the boy’s parents were unable to pay a ransom.
According to 301 Brigade, Maadani, who it says has a criminal record, confessed to seizing his cousin Ahab Nuri Al-Maadani in front of the boy’s home in Ghut Abu Saq between Swani and Janzur. When the family did not pay, his gang killed him and dumped the body by the roadside.
The brigade says that the rest of the gang is in hiding, but it is searching for them.
Meanwhile, the bodies of two men were found in Esbaia, south Tripoli yesterday, one of who is a former finance ministry employee.
Anas Al-Zaraqani and Alaa Tantoush were reported to have been kidnapped by unknown gunman on Saturday in nearby Gasr Ben Ghashir. Tantoush was the former director of the treasury department at the Ministry of Finance.
Security officials have now begun investigating the incident. The finance ministry has offered its condolences.
