Benghazi, 14 October 2017:
Benghazi municipality has started cleaning up the prominent Dawa Islamiya (Islamic Call society) building near the city centre. It wants the building –Benghazi’s top commercial office centre – to reopen as soon as possible and has called on the various companies that were located there to help in the clean-up and restoration moves.
The building was hit in July during fighting between the Libyan National Army and militants, causing a fire on the fifth and sixth floors. The building had been empty for some time because of it location near the Sabri fighting.
It is one of the several commercial investments belonging to the Dawa Islamiya.
