Benghazi, 20 September 2017:

The Philippines’ chargé d’affaires has been to the headquarters of the Sirte Oil Company in Brega to assess the situation and work conditions of his country’s citizens employed there. It is part of a general survey of the situation of Filipinos in Libya.

Following meetings with company executives and Filipino staff, chargé Mardomel Melicor is reported to have expressed his satisfaction at their situation.

For its part, the management asked him to use his good offices to have Manilla’s restrictions on Filipinos lifted so as to enable it to recruit more Filipino workers.
