Benghazi. 17 July 2017:
As many as 100 decaying embryos have been found in a faulty refrigerator at Benghazi Medical Centre , the city’s general investigation department has said.
A foul smell appears to have caused someone at the hospital to call the police. An officer said that only nine of the embryos had been identified because their fathers had files at the hospital.
The families of the others are so far unknown. Nor is it yet clear why the tiny bodies had been retained by the hospital, from which there has as yet been no statement.
Investigators have said that some embryos had been sitting inside the refrigerators since 2015. It is reported that some family members now want to prosecute the hospital for negligence.
