Tripoli, 25 June 2017:
A member of Muammar Qaddafi’s Qaddadfa tribe is thought to have been kidnapped by terrorists of the so-called Islamic State (IS).
Tribal elders said that Mohammed Abubakr Abusadra Qaddafi, who they described as a former soldier, had disappeared near Qasr Abu Hadi, some 70 kilometres south of Sirte, near Gardabaya airport.
After the terrorists fled Sirte when it fell to the Misratan-led Bunyan Marsous last November, they appear to have joined up with some of their senior leaders who evacuated south in April last year after IS fighters briefly overran the key Abu Grain road junction before being ousted by Misratan forces.
The elders, who gave no details of Qaddafi’s disappearance, said they had so far received no information as to his whereabouts.
Meanwhile Bunyan Marsous (BM) forces have recaptured the two tankers carrying 100,000 litres of fuel which were seized four days ago as they headed south to Sebha.
BM spokesman Colonel Mohamed Al-Ghasri told Alwasat that a terrorist suspect had been captured in the operation while the others who were with him had managed to escape. He did not say if all the fuel was recovered. It is also unclear if they found the driver who had failed to escape when the terrorists attacked.
After the tankers had been seized the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee blocked further fuel movements until the Presidency Council (PC) and the local authorities in the area secure the route to the south.
