Tripoli, 17 November 2016:
There was tension this evening in a number of districts in the Libyan capital, notably Tajoura and Ain Zara, following the murder of a senior member of Haithem Tajouri’s Tripoli Revolutionaries’ Brigade (TRB) last night.
Mohamed Khashaiba was reportedly found murdered in his car last night at Shara Al-Shatt (Corniche road) in Tripoli. One report, though, claims that although his car was found with great deal of blood and bullet holes, it was otherwise empty; the body was missing. No one, however, appears to be in any doubt that he is dead. As a result, there are many extra checkpoints in the city this evening, erected by Tajouri’s men.
Khashaiba is said to have been a shadowly figure, and claims are now beginning to emerge that he was responsible for some of the violence in the city.
Sources close to Tajouri say that he has accused a Misratan commander of being behind Khashaiba killing.
Relations between the TRB and the Misratan forces in the city have for some time now been hostile.
