Tripoli, 26 November 2016:
Jamal Zubia, the top Libya Dawn media figure seized in August was today released in Tripoli.
The news was broken by Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani’s Tanasah TV station which said that Zubia had been held by the RADA (Deterrence) force which is led by Abdul Raouf Kara.
The controversial head of the foreign media department in the Khalifa Ghwell National Salvation Government was grabbed by armed men during a Martyrs’ Square demonstration at the beginning of August. Detained alongside him was an assistant Salim Ghashout who was also reportedly freed today.
For almost the entire period of his disappearance, there was no official word of Zubia and Ghashout’s whereabouts. It is not known why the men were released now. It was not possible to contact Zubia this evening.
