Benghazi, 4 July 2016:
The Libyan National Army (LNA) led by General Khalifa Hafter has launched a new operation to liberate the adjoining central Benghazi districts of Suq Al-Hout and Sabri. Codenamed Jabin Al-Majd (“the forehead of glory”) and coordinated by the Libyan marines whose base is nearby, it started today with air raids on both places.
The LNA has been quoted saying that it would not make its final move against the militants holed up in Suq Al-Hout and Sabri until the battle for Gwarsha and Ganfouda were over. That is not yet the case although the LNA has claimed on more than one occasion that Ganfouda had been freed and Ghwasha almost taken.
The teachers’ village in Ganfouda was secured only today, and parts of Gwarsha are still beyond LNA control.
Today, Monday, there were a number of sir strikes over Ganouda and Ghwarsha.
