Tunis, 22 March 2016:
Tunisians are still not able to enter Libya via the main Ras Jedir border crossing . . .[restrict]which reopened yesterday. The Libyan guards are letting Libyans pass through but say that they need to fix a damaged immigration control system before they can process Tunisians.
There are however unconfirmed reports that Tunisian truckers have been able to drive through into Libya.
The frontier post had been shut by the Tunisians following the 7 March IS terrorist assault in Ben Guerdane. It is now open between for 12 hours from 7am.
The government in Tunis has meanwhile extended by a further three months the state of emergency that it put in place last November after the suicide bombing of a coach carrying members of the president guard through the capital. [/restrict]
