Tripoli, 17 March 2016:
The wave of kidnappings in and around Tripoli continues. It was announced today that the chairman . . .[restrict]of Rahila fuel distribution company, Abdulati Al-Rafadi, disappeared yesterday while on his way home to Zawia. He is presumed to have been kidnapped. He was last seen outside his office in the capital’s Hay Andalus district around 1.30 pm.
In the current lawlessness of Libya, in Tripoli and to the west of it, the kidnappings are largely for ransom, with gangs aware they can act with impunity.
There has been no announcement so far as to whether a ransom has been demanded for Al-Rafadi. [/restrict]
