Tripoli, 15 March 2016:
A Sorman councillor has been murdered in a drive-by shooting in front of his home in . . .[restrict]the town.
Khaled Al-Bashir Al-Maghuri was gunned down yesterday as he was leaving for work. Armed men in a vehicle came up the Maseef Road to attack him.
Local journalist Mohamed Balili told this newspaper “ Maghuri worked in the municipality’s health department. He was going to his office as usual when he was targeted. The attackers disappeared. He was a busy guy and everyone liked him”.
The only explanation Balili could find for the councillor’s murder was that ever since he had taken office, he had stood out against corruption
Colleagues in the town’s health services stopped work while family and friends blocked roads
in protest at his murder [/restrict]
