Tripoli, 10 February 2016:
A member of Ain Zara municipal council and his office manager were abducted by unknown armed . . .[restrict]group this afternoon.
Councillor Mohamed Margheni, who heads the municipality’s economy office, and his colleague Bashir Al-Faituri were grabbed as they were leaving the municipal buildings in the Tripoli suburb.
The reasons of the abduction are unknown although there are reports of an internal power struggle.
Margheni was one of the members who led the vote of no confidence in the mayor Abdulwahad Baloog last October which resulted in him being replacedby Ali Ghayadi. However, Baloog managed to return to the job office last month with the agreement of all members, including Ghayadi. [/restrict]
