The Libyan Iron and Steel Company reported yesterday that it had achieved a record 210,00-tons in exports of Hot Briquette Iron (HBI) in the first quarter of 2025.
The HBI was exported to several Arab and European countries, through 16 ships from the company’s port.
LISCO said this qualitative achievement comes in partnership with FGE, which played an active role in the production processes, which contributed to achieving these record quantities with high quality that meets the requirements of international markets.
LISCO added that this achievement is the fruit of a strategic vision aimed at opening up to new markets and expanding the export base, thus contributing to supporting the national economy and diversifying its sources and consolidating the company’s position as one of the largest exporters of steel in the region.
Commenting on the landmark, Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Abu Hissa, praised LISCO’s achievement. He stressed that this achievement reflects the effectiveness of the national vision for the development of the industrial sector and indicates the ability of national institutions to compete in global markets.
The Minister stressed that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals continues to fully support leading companies in the industrial sector, stressing the importance of these achievements in strengthening the national economy and diversifying its sources.
