Two women died from henna poisoning this week, according Marj hospital. One was 38 years of . . .[restrict]age, the other 26.
The precise poison, believed to have been added to the henna either by the women or mixed in before they bought it, is yet to be established, according to hospital spokesman Mabrouk Al-Saleh. Forensic tests were still being carried out.
There have been some 40 fatalities associated with henna in the past four years, a significant increase on previous years, he said, adding that last week’s two deaths brought this year’s toll to four. [/restrict]
