Tripoli, 7 October 2015:
The head of the Beida Security directorate has reportedly ordered the arrest of the interior ministry . . .[restrict]spokesman, for criticising his appointment as the new police commander.
Lieutenant Tariq Kharraz had apparently said that Colonel Numin Abu Zahra’s new job should not have been given to him by the ministry of the interior. The Libya Herald has been told that Kharraz maintained that the post should have been filled by a decision from the House of Representatives.
Abu Zahra retorted that the appointment of a police commander was a matter for the executive of the ministry, not for legislators. He has instructed police officials in Beida and Cyrene to arrest Kharraz. It is unclear if this has yet been done nor has not been possible to contact Kharraz. [/restrict]
