Tripoli, 19 September 2015:
One of the two Indian medical staff seized at the Ibn Sina hospital in IS-occupied . . .[restrict]Sirte earlier this week appears to be free in circumstances that are not yet clear.
Yesterday it was reported that Pravash Ranjan Samal had managed to escape and had contacted friends. It was also being said that he had been abducted by a gang and freed by IS or that it had been IS who originally seized him and then chose to let him go.
Either way, the doctor seized along with Samal, Ramamurthy Kosanam is still missing. From Andhra Pradesh, Kosanam has been working in Libya for 15 years. Indian media reported that the doctor used to call his wife every day but that for the last week, his phone has been switched off.
Two other Indians, both lecturers at Sirte university, have now been missing since late July when they were seized, it is thought by IS. Two colleagues abducted with them were however later freed. [/restrict]
