UNSMIL chief Bernardino Leon sidestepped a question about the disparities in the rival responses to Draft . . .[restrict]IV of the Peace Accord insisting that the latest round of talks in Skirhat, Morocco was only just beginning.
“Allow us to analyse what these (new) proposals are” he said,”We are in a negotiation. This is a work trying to integrate the points of view of everybody”.
Leon repeated much the same warning as when the reactions to Draft III from the House of Representatives and the rump of the General National Congress were being reviewed last month. He said again that he expected this to be the “last and final” round of the talks.
He insisted that he was optimistic saying “Obviously, the fact that all the participants in the dialogue have accepted the fourth draft as the basis for a final solution is extremely encouraging. So we are really looking forward to our discussions in the coming days and the possibility to have an agreement which is accepted by everybody”.
