Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni arrived this morning for two days of talks with the Algerian . . .[restrict]government on the crisis in Libya as well as joint relations between the two countries including
Met at Algiers airport by his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmalek Sellal, and Algeria’s Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel, Thinni is accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohamed Dairi, Economics and Industry Minister Muneer Ali Asr, Labour and Social Affairs Minister Massoud Sawa, Interior Miniustry Undersecretary Mustafa Dabbashi and of the head of the Transport and Communications authority Ahmed Khaled Musa.
As well as the situation in Libya, discussions between the two government teams so far have concentrated on border security, in particular the problems of terrorism, organised crime, drug trafficking and illegal migration. They have also looked at improving trade ties.
On the Algerian side, today’s meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry and Mines, Abdeslem Bouchouareb, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed El Ghazi and well as Abdelkader Messahel.
Algeria has hosted part of the UN-brokered Dialogue process – specifically two meetings of party political leaders and other political activists, in March and April. It has strongly backed the view that there should be no foreign or Arab intervention in Libya to resolve the crisis. [/restrict]
