Tripoli, 28 May 2015:
The brother of Libya’s Justice Minister was kidnapped by unidentified men late Wednesday.
Mousa Grera, a . . .[restrict]retired officer and brother of Minister of Justice Mabruk Grera, was kidnapped in Bani Walid.
It is not known who was responsible for the abduction or if the victim was taken because of who his brother is, or for some other reason.
Bani Walid was one of the last bastions of Qaddafi sympathisers. It was finally and brutally crushed two and a half years ago, but there is a still a strong lack of support for the revolution among the bulk of the population. As in other former Qaddafi strongholds, such a Sirte, there are reports of growing sympathy for Islamists in the town and earlier this week, a sufi shrine in the town was said to have been destroyed – usually the work of militants.
