A US team of heart surgeons led by Dr William Novick is again in Tobruk for . . .[restrict]a series of operations on Libyan children with cardiac problems.
The team was welcomed to Tobruk Medical Centre (TNC) by Health Minister Dr Reida El Oakley, according to the TMC’s Director of Medical Affairs, Dr Adnan Bodaia. Oakaly also met some of the children in the centre awaiting open-heart surgery. Bodaia added that the minister also wanted to check up that the TMC had the all the equipment it needed.
Dr Novick has performed heart surgery for free on a number a Libyan children in the past. Last February, he brought a new team entitled the “William Novick Global Cardiac Alliance” to Tobruk for the first time.
This time the team expected to carry out more than 90 operations. [/restrict]
