Tripoli, 2 February 2015:

Indian media outlets are reporting that one of their nationals has been kidnapped in Sirte. News of . . .[restrict]his disappearance was also published on the official website for Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in Sirte.

Jasbinder Kumar lived in Libya for 25 years, working for 20 of those years in the maintenance department at the hospital. According to the hospital’s post, he was known around Sirte simply as “Kumar” and was well known for his welding and blacksmith skills.

According to Indian media, Kumar’s wife, who lives in India, heard from Indian friends in Libya that Kumar went missing several days ago on his way home from work. He was, she said, taken by unidentified men and has not been seen nor heard from since.
