The Spanish Embassy in Libya reported that the Spanish Ambassador, Javier Soria, and his accompanying delegation, met with the Director-General of the National Development Agency (NDA), Mahmoud Al-Farjani, in Benghazi last Wednesday (16 September).
The Embassy reported that the meeting provided an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the work of the NDA and to explore areas of cooperation between Spain and Libya.
For its part, the NDA said the meeting focused on ways to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two sides.
The NDA reported that discussions covered various areas of cooperation, including development, investment, and infrastructure, as well as training, capacity building, and cultural and knowledge exchange. The parties also explored ways to leverage Spanish expertise and enhance communication between relevant institutions in both countries.
The NDA said it commended the friendly relations between Libya and Spain and praised the Spanish Embassy’s leading role in developing and facilitating visa services in Benghazi, which contributes to fostering communication and the movement of delegations between the two nations.
The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation with Spanish institutions and companies across several priority sectors, as well as the establishment of direct communication channels to support the implementation of development and investment projects.
During the meeting, the Director General extended an official invitation to the Ambassador and embassy staff to visit the city of Sirte and the NDA’s project sites, offering them a firsthand look at the work underway and the available opportunities for collaboration.
In return, the NDA reported that the Spanish Ambassador extended an official invitation to its Director General to visit Madrid, aiming to maintain communication and strengthen cooperation with relevant Spanish entities and institutions.
