Tripoli, 10 October 2014:
There have been demonstrations for and against the House of Representatives in Libya today.
In Beida, demonstrators . . .[restrict]drove through the town waving banners in support of the HoR as well the army and the police. The good-natured protest was clearly coordinated with the local police; police vehicles led the procession.
In Misrata and Zawia, on the other hand, protestors called for the HoR to be dismissed and for the former General National Congress to take control of the country. They also demanded an end to dialogue with supporters of the HoR, labelling its members as “murders”. Dialogue betrayed the blood of the martyrs, the protesters said.
There was also an anti-HoR demonstration in Benghazi’s Tahrir Square but it attracted no more than 20 people.
