Tripoli, 10 October 2014:
An armed group, said to be from Kikla, are alleged to have kidnapped four brothers and . . .[restrict]their two cousins from the family’s farm near Tripoli’s Airport Road.
They were seized when gunmen is six vehicles forced their way into the farm. It is not known if the kidnapping, which occurred on Wednesday, was financially or politically motivated. The six are members of the prominent and wealthy Dardur family from Rigiat. Cars, gold and cash was stolen by the abductors, according to a family member who did not want to be identified.
However, the family are known to be involved in supporting human rights – human rights activist Faraj Dardur is a relative – and, according to the family source, had provided accommodation to refugees from the fighting in the Warsehfana area. This, he said, was probably one of the reasons for the abduction.
He added that it was thought that the six were being held somewhere in Tripoli’s Al-Falah district. [/restrict]
