Benghazi, 30 October 2014:
Representative for Benghazi Siham Sergiwa has said reports over her disagreement with Aisa Al-Araibi, another . . .[restrict]member of the House of Representatives, on matters of security in Benghazi are untrue, despite reports to the contrary.
Details of a spat between the two Benghazi members in front of an EU diplomatic delegation emerged on Tuesday. Sergiwa and Al-Araibi are said to have become embroiled in the argument after Sergiwa claimed there were no security problems in Benghazi, that the House of Representatives was opposed to military operations in the city and had been coerced into a series of unpopular decisions.
Last night on Libya Awalan TV channel, Sergiwa stated that reports of the dispute were untrue. Ziyad Daghim, also a member for Benghazi, has released a similar statement.
A source within the House of Representatives told the Libya Herald, however, that Sergiwa had indeed made the bizarre security statements.
