Women activists in Tobruk protested yesterday over members of House of Representatives (HoR) joining the delegation lead by Presidency Council leader Fayez al-Serraj to Moscow over the weekend.
Deputy leader of the HoR Emhemed Shouaib was among the Libyan team in the Russian capital as were a number of other others, including Benghazi member Siham Sergiwa.
The women, who said they supported the Libyan armed forces and the HoR, alleged the visit by the HoR members was made without permission and demanded that an independent inquiry be made to investigate their actions.
According to the pro-LNA office of the Libyan news agency LANA, the women also protested supposed remarks by Siham Sergiwa during the revolution in which she allegedly eight thousand women ahd been raped by Qaddafi’s troops. They demanded that she be banned until a full investigation had been carried out into her position.
Sergiwa, a noted supporter of dialogue within Libya, has been involved in a number of spats previously in the HoR.
