A lawyer working in the General Prosecutor’s office was kidnapped this afternoon as he left a . . .[restrict]cafe in Benghazi’s Kish district.
Named as Fahad Jamal Abdulsaid Ismail, he was taken by four masked men from his car which was left abandoned.
Ismail, aged 32 and married with one child, had run unsuccessfully as a candidate in the city’s Hadaiq district in the municipal council elections on 19 April.
The motive for his kidnapping is thought to be a ransom, although no demand has yet been made. His maternal grandfather’s family were wealthy at one time, but Ismail ‘s family say they are not rich. [/restrict]
