Tripoli, 16 January 2014:
The first phase of an extensive tree-planting campaign in Libya was launched this morning near Sirte.
Thousands of trees . . .[restrict]will be planted in an area five kilometres outside the town. These are intended to create natural defences against winds and help prevent the encroachment of sand onto the coastal road, according to Libyan news agency LANA.
Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the campaign, entitled ‘A tree for every Libyan’ aims to plant 15,000 trees this year. [/restrict]
