Tripoli, 16 January 2014:With our story on Tuesday 14 January, about the final Mawlid Al-Nabi celebrations in Tripoli’s old town, . . .[restrict]we used a truly outstanding photograph, which we were given to understand had been take by a freelance photographer working with the Libya Herald. In fact the shot had been taken by Nader ElGadi. Immediately we established the truth, the picture was removed. We have apologised to Nader ElGadi and look forward to working with him in future. We take this incident extremely seriously. The key asset of any newspaper is the reader’s trust. We will not tolerate any behaviour which calls that into question. The photographer concerned is no longer working with the Libya Herald. The Libya Herald apologises without reservation to Nader ElGadi and to all our readers for this unacceptable breach of trust
